Saxophone hero, composer, arranger and ensemble director Tim Garland co-directs an all-star band with LSO Principal Percussionist Neil Percy.

Neil plays a hybrid collection of percussion instruments specially selected and written for by Tim Garland for this project, exploring percussion instrumentation from all worlds.

Featuring Joe Locke (USA), one of the most talked about mallet players in jazz, Geoffrey Keezer (USA) who first made a name for himself with Art Blakey, Carl-Simon Herring and Patrick Bettison (UK).

In June Neil is to receive his Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music (HonRAM) at this year's Graduation Day. A stunned but delighted Neil says, "I'm completely shocked and very proud to have been given such a prestigious award. I'd like to think that this is in recognition of the fantastic work that all the professors and students have done during my time as Head of Timpani and Percussion. Without their amazing efforts, the Department would not be where it is today."

Past recipients have included Liszt, Stravinsky and Casals.
